Zurich Cantonal Council Announces Study Place Changes for 2026/27
The Zurich Cantonal Council has announced changes to study places at ZHAW and ZHdK for the academic year 2026/2027. Admission restrictions will be in place for three years, affecting certain programs due to high infrastructure and personnel requirements, and limited internship places on the study island. At ZHAW, the Nursing program will not have any admission restrictions due to sufficient internship places. However, the Physiotherapy program will have 156 study places instead of 180, and the Social Work program will have 210 places instead of 230. The Ergotherapy program will increase to 150 places by 2027/28. The number of places for Midwifery and Health Promotion and Prevention will remain unchanged. The Applied Psychology program at ZHAW will have 180 study places by 2027/28. At ZHdK, intake capacities per department will remain the same, with Performing Arts and Film at 114, Design at 150, Fine Arts at 106, Cultural Analysis and Mediation at 114, and Music at 298 places. The Zurich Cantonal Council's decision aims to balance demand and resources across various study programs on the study island. While some programs at ZHAW and ZHdK will see changes, others will remain unchanged, ensuring a diverse range of educational opportunities for students.
