Youths and Juveniles are essential for the forthcoming Cohort

Cities worldwide are recognising the importance of involving young people in urban planning and development, and Stuttgart is no exception. The Future Team, a project supported by Stuttgart's city government and the Stuttgart Youth House Society, is an initiative that allows young people aged 9-14 to network, share ideas, and actively help shape the city.

Maria Gießmann, who works in the Children's Office in Stuttgart, serves as the point of contact for queries related to the Future Team. Parents or guardians can reach out to her via email at maria.giessmann@stuttgartde for information about the Future Team and its funding.

The Future Team's official kick-off is scheduled for September 27th, with an introductory workshop running from 10 am to 4 pm. Registration for the Future Team can be done under Children's Participation in Stuttgart by September 19th.

Last year, the Future Team helped decide on the financial support for children and youth projects in the city, demonstrating the impact young people can have on their community. The Future Team is a platform for children and young people to voice their opinions and contribute to decision-making processes.

In addition to the Future Team, children might be able to contribute to urban planning through school outreach programs, community events, youth councils or groups, or online platforms. To find specific opportunities in Stuttgart, parents or guardians might need to contact local community centers, city council offices, or school administrators to inquire about available programs.

By fostering young people's engagement in urban planning, cities like Stuttgart are empowering the next generation to shape their own futures and create sustainable, vibrant communities.

  1. The Future Team's initiative, aimed at education-and-self-development, encourages young people aged 9-14 to participate in shaping the city, thereby fostering their ability to contribute to decision-making processes.
  2. In order to expand their possibilities in education-and-self-development, parents or guardians in Stuttgart can seek out additional urban planning initiatives besides the Future Team, such as school outreach programs, community events, or online platforms.
