Yakutsk Launches 'From the Yenisei to the Anabar' to Preserve Dolgan Culture

A cultural-educational project, 'From the Yenisei to the Anabar', has kicked off in Yakutsk. The event, which aims to preserve the traditions and cultural heritage of the North's indigenous peoples, brings together Dolgan communities from Yakutia and the Taymyr district of Krasnoyarsk Krai. Deputy Chairwoman of the Government of Yakutia, Olga Balabkina, is among the participants.

The roundtable discussions will centre around preserving the Dolgan language, cultural heritage, and ethnic identity. The event will also feature workshops, performances, and exhibitions to celebrate and showcase Dolgan culture. Vocal and traditional circular dance 'Heiro' workshops, a play performance, and a concert are planned to engage participants and the public. Additionally, a photo exhibition titled 'Life and Faces of the Dolgan. History in Photographs' will be displayed, offering a visual journey through Dolgan history.

An exhibition of crafts from Taymyr and Yakutia, 'Unity of Craftsmanship and Style', will also open. This exhibition will showcase fur, bead, wood, and other material items, highlighting the unique craftsmanship of the Dolgan people. Special attention will be given to supporting and preserving the Dolgan language and cultural heritage throughout the project.

The 'From the Yenisei to the Anabar' project is expected to foster interregional cooperation and understanding, while preserving and promoting the rich cultural heritage of the Dolgan people. Through workshops, performances, exhibitions, and discussions, the project aims to celebrate and safeguard the unique traditions and language of the Dolgan community.
