On Wednesday, September 17, 2025, the Dementia Action Day "Tour Demenz" will take place in Bergisch Gladbach, Germany. This event, organised by the Ageing Office of the city of Bergisch Gladbach and the Regional Office for Age, Care, and Dementia Bergisches Land, aims to raise awareness, create encounters, and show solidarity towards those living with dementia and their relatives.

The day-long program, which takes place from morning to evening, offers a varied selection of lectures, exhibitions, interactive offers, and information stands. The event is centred around the topic of dementia, a condition that affects around 1.8 million people in Germany.

The action day kicks off with a medical information session for volunteers, relatives, and interested parties at 10:00 AM, led by Senior Physician Meike Jacobsen from the EVK Bergisch Gladbach. This will be followed by a discussion by Claudia Freudenberger from the guardianship office of the city of Bergisch Gladbach at 12:00 PM, focusing on legal representation options in dementia.

From 2:30 PM, visitors can explore information stands on the Market Square City Center, offering resources for caring relatives, consultation on powers of attorney & advance care planning, information and materials, and more. Additionally, "The Radiance of Age" - Portrait photos from the encounter centers of Caritas RheinBerg - will be displayed on the Market Square City Center.

At 4:00 PM, a tour "With all senses" will take place at Villa Zanders, focusing on encounters with selected artworks and a dance offer for people with and without dementia. Admission to this event is free, but registration is required by September 15, 2025.

In the afternoon, a bicycle group organised by the Regional Office for Age, Care, and Dementia Bergisches Land is expected to arrive at the market square around 15:25, and will be welcomed by the First Deputy Mayor Anna Maria Scheerer and other representatives.

The day will conclude with a talk by Nicole Sutschet, Police Commissioner and Traffic Safety Advisor of the Accident Prevention, at 5:30-7:00 PM. She will provide help for relatives and interested parties on driving a car with dementia.

From September 15-27, a media exhibition on the topic of dementia will be held at the City Library at the Forum. The trend of dementia cases is rising, making events like the Dementia Action Day in Bergisch Gladbach increasingly important. The organisers hope that this event will foster a greater understanding and support for those affected by dementia.
