Water.org Aims to Provide 200M with Safe Water/Sanitation by 2030
Water.org, a global non-profit organisation, has set an ambitious goal to provide 200 million people with access to safe water or sanitation by 2030. This initiative aims to mobilise billions more in capital to bridge the massive financing gap of over $85 billion per year.
Currently, 2.2 billion people, one in four globally, lack access to safe water. The primary barrier to this access is financial, making affordable financing crucial. Water.org's approach combines philanthropy, investment, and project development to tackle this issue.
Water.org has empowered more than 81 million people with access to safe water or sanitation through affordable financing. It partners with local financial institutions, NGOs, and international development banks to mobilise capital for water and sanitation infrastructure projects in Asia, Africa, and Latin America. Their innovative solutions include WaterCredit, WaterEquity, and WaterConnect, which work together to bridge the financing gap.
Access to safe water improves health, saves time, and creates opportunities. It enables children to attend school, women to earn an income, and families to build resilience. Water.org ensures that these solutions are owned and sustained by the communities they serve, fostering trust and lasting impact.
Water.org's ambitious goal to reach 200 million people by 2030 requires significant capital mobilisation. By combining philanthropy, investment, and project development, Water.org is closing the financing gap and scaling lasting solutions. Their innovative approach is empowering communities and transforming lives one affordable loan at a time.
