Vocational Job Fair in Delhi Schools: Minister of Education Celebrates Achievements as Students Receive Job Offers
Delhi Government Boosts Vocational Education, Hosts Job Fair at Sarvodaya Vidyalaya
The Sarvodaya Vidyalaya in Rohini was buzzing with excitement on Thursday as the Delhi government hosted a job fair, marking a significant step in its focus on vocational training for students.
More than 30 private enterprises, including Tech Mahindra, Haldiram, and HCL, participated in the event, offering a direct link between the classroom and the working world for students who have acquired real-world skills. The job fair served as an opportunity for students in Class 12 who had completed vocational training to be interviewed and offered immediate job opportunities.
Delhi Education Minister Ashish Sood, senior officials, and local MLA Rajkumar Chauhan were among those who attended the job fair. The Minister's presence underscored the government's commitment to this initiative, which aims to prepare students for more than just exams, focusing on providing both academic knowledge and real-world skills.
The Delhi government's emphasis on vocational education aligns with the national ‘Skill India’ mission and reflects its commitment to equitable access to skill-based education, especially for students from economically weaker backgrounds. Over the past academic year, more than 4.2 lakh students pursued vocational topics, demonstrating a growing demand for these courses.
The government plans major upgrades to vocational education over the next five years, further underlining its strategic growth in this area. The objective is to help students succeed in their careers by giving them both solid academic knowledge and real-world skills.
The job fair was just one aspect of the Delhi government's comprehensive approach to vocational education. Students can choose from a range of career-focused courses, including Information Technology, Healthcare, Electronics, Retail, and Logistics. The new emphasis on practical skills aims to ensure students have all the resources they need to launch a prosperous career after graduation.
The program's impact includes providing global training platforms and fostering world-class education. It offers practical industrial skills that enhance employability upon completion, creating pathways for students to secure placements in their fields. The initiative also develops collaborations that elevate skill standards and open international opportunities.
Recently, fourteen Delhi government school students were selected for a prestigious 3-to-3.5-year dual vocational training programme in Germany under the APAL Project 2025. This initiative combines classroom learning with real industrial experience, providing students with international exposure and direct placement opportunities in skilled sectors.
By fostering vocational education, the Delhi government is helping transform students into skilled professionals with better employment prospects and global competencies, marking a strong growth trajectory for vocational education in the region.
