New Leader at the University of Texas at Dallas: Prabhas Moghe, a Chemical Engineer with a Knack for Research Funding

University of Texas Dallas selects Rutgers executive vice president as sole contender for the upcoming presidency role.

Buckle up, Dallas! The University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) has its sights set on a new president.

Following a vote by the University of Texas System Board of Regents, Prabhas Moghe has been confirmed as the sole finalist for the UTD's top spot. Moghe currently holds the title of Executive Vice President of Academic Affairs at Rutgers University, New Jersey's top public university. His longstanding association with Rutgers dates back three decades.

Born and raised in India, Moghe earned a chemical engineering degree from the University of Bombay in Mumbai. To pursue further education, he moved to the University of Minnesota to obtain a doctorate in chemical engineering. Subsequently, he completed post-doctoral training at Harvard University Medical School.

The UT System Board of Regents has commended Moghe's successful track record at Rutgers, which includes attracting substantial research dollars, bolstering the school's academic reputation, and improving its national standing. Board Chair Kevin Eltife notes that Moghe's prestigious background as an educator, researcher, and administrator played a significant role in the selection process.

JB Milliken, the UT System Chancellor, highlights the alignment between Moghe's achievements at Rutgers with UT Dallas's strengths and ambitions. Moghe's focus on forging educational pathways and driving research agendas forward seems to be a perfect fit for the ambitious university.

Based on the Board's decision, Moghe will officially take over after a mandatory 21-day waiting period, succeeding UTD's outgoing President Richard Benson, who announced his resignation last fall after a legendary nine-year tenure at the university.
