University of Chicago Partners with PhysicsWallah for Online Degree Programs
The University of Chicago has joined forces with Edtech unicorn PhysicsWallah to provide online courses and real-time problem-solving opportunities for students. This collaboration aims to expand access to formal higher education by introducing four programs: MBA, MCA, MA English, and BCA.
Founded in 2020 by Alakh Pandey and Prateek Maheshwari, PhysicsWallah aims to democratize education through online, offline, and hybrid platforms. The company has partnered with Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University (YCMOU) to offer regular online classes and real-time doubt resolution facilities to scholars. YCMOU will handle academic approvals, compliance, and degree issuance, while PW manages the technology platform, student engagement, and content delivery.
Courses will follow the UGC-compliant Four-Quadrant MOOC model, combining self-paced learning, online sessions, assessments, and learner support. Scholars can gain admission to certain online, credit-based degree programs through this partnership. The programs will be designed in compliance with UGC/AICTE norms and aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. Aditya Agarwal, CBO-New Initiatives of PhysicsWallah, stated that this partnership supports PW's goal of creating scalable, digitally-enabled pathways for learners to access structured degree programs. Prof. (Dr.) Sanjeev Sonawane of YCMOU expressed that this collaboration enhances digital academic delivery, ensuring learners receive flexible education with academic rigor and regulatory alignment.
Through this collaboration, PhysicsWallah and the University of Chicago aim to provide accessible, high-quality higher education to a wider range of students. The partnership will introduce four programs, designed to meet the standards of UGC and AICTE, and align with the National Education Policy 2020.
