University designates Dr. Adrian James as the temporary head of the School of Business Management at Park University

Adrian James, Ph.D., has been appointed as the interim dean of Park University's College of Management, effective May 1, 2025. This appointment comes after serving as an associate dean and associate professor of management within the College of Management since August 2021.

James, a resident of Kansas City, Mo. (Northland), brings a wealth of experience to her new role. She holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in leadership, education, and communication from Texas A&M University, as well as a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in management from Northwest Missouri State University. Prior to joining Park University, James was an assistant professor of organisational behaviour and leadership at the Westville, Ind., campus of Purdue University Northwest.

Before her academic career, James spent 3.5 years as the program coordinator within the academic success center at Texas A&M University's branch in Qatar. Her extensive experience in facilitating workshops and leadership sessions for multiple Kansas City area organisations, including the Kansas City Chiefs, will undoubtedly prove beneficial in her new position.

In her role as interim dean, James will be the chief administrative officer of the College of Management, implementing the College's policies and procedures in accordance with the University's policies. She will also serve as the chief fiscal and academic officer, overseeing the College's financial and academic operations.

James is actively involved in the local community, serving as vice chair of the Platte County (Mo.) Economic Development Council Board of Directors and co-chair of the Platte County Workforce Alliance. Previously, she served as a board member (2020-22) of the Parkville Area Chamber and Economic Development Council.

The College of Management, which includes the Robert W. Plaster School of Business, is eager to have James at the helm. Her leadership and expertise are expected to drive the College towards further success. As James takes on this new challenge, the Park University community looks forward to her contributions and the positive impact she will have on the College and the University as a whole.

Adrian James, given her doctoral degree in leadership, education, and communication, is poised to leverage her knowledge for the promotion of personal growth and education-and-self-development within her new role as interim dean of Park University's College of Management. With her experience in facilitating workshops and leadership sessions, she aims to foster a dynamic environment fostering personal growth and education within the College, ultimately driving its success.
