The Medical University of Lusatia (MUL-CT) and the Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg (BTU) have strengthened their partnership, signing an agreement on July 31, 2025. This collaboration aims to focus on health system research and digitalization of healthcare, with the goal of establishing Cottbus and the Lusatia region as hubs of science and innovation.

According to Professor Dr. mult. Eckhard Nagel, Director of Health Care at MUL-CT, this partnership is crucial for supporting social and structural transformation, offering future opportunities and security for local populations across generations. The cooperation will also promote scientific talent and further catalyse modern scientific and educational programs related to healthcare and digital technologies.

BTU, known for its digitalization initiatives, hosts workshops on digital technologies such as cloud computing, 5G, and AI, which align with the focus on digitizing healthcare and supporting health system research.

The collaboration between MUL-CT and BTU involves close integration in medical training, sharing infrastructure, and a commitment to joint research, teaching, and societal impact. The agreement is open-ended, signifying a long-term commitment between the two universities.
