The Spohn Foundation: A Captivating Journey of International Academia
The seventh application round for the Alexander Spohn Foundation scholarships has begun, offering graduates of specific gymnasiums in Ulm and Neu-Ulm the opportunity to embark on a one-year international study adventure. These scholarships, in partnership with the DAAD Foundation, aim to create future prospects independent of social background and provide attractive support for education as part of the city's education offensive.

The selection process places great emphasis on motivation, as stated by Christian Beine, Managing Director of the Foundation. Academic excellence is undoubtedly important, but it is not the only deciding factor. The scholarship program, now in its seventh year, offers a unique opportunity for young scholars to gain international experience and deepen their studies abroad. This year's scholars have already started their journeys, with Niko Höhnig in Portugal, Lea Steinwedel in the USA, Franziska Glöggler in Japan, Samuel Klefe in Australia, and Jan Moisel in Canada.
The DAAD Foundation, with over 100 years of experience in organizing and accompanying international stays, supports the Alexander Spohn Foundation in this endeavour. The partnership ensures a smooth and successful experience for the scholarship recipients.
The scholarship recipients of the 7th application round, starting their stay abroad in the winter semester 2026/2027, are yet to be announced. However, the Foundation encourages young people to apply, with Mayor and Foundation Board Member Martin Ansbacher leading the call.
As the Mayor stated, "Education is considered the key to the future, also for the future of the city." This scholarship program is a testament to that belief, offering a chance to broaden horizons and build a brighter future for the city's youth.
