Tech Launchpad initiative's remarkable advancement is celebrated by SDI, City Colleges of Chicago Foundation, and Kennedy-King College
The City Colleges of Chicago and SDI Presence LLC, in partnership with the City Colleges of Chicago Foundation, are celebrating the continued success and expansion of the Tech Launchpad at Kennedy-King College.
Launched with a $1 million investment from SDI Presence, the Tech Launchpad has proven to be a transformative initiative, providing technology talent education to students at Kennedy-King College. In 2025, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation donated an additional one million US dollars to further improve the programme.
The Tech Launchpad has an impressive 80% completion rate in the Xchange Chicago tech training pathway, and since its inception, it has served over 700 students. The focus of the Tech Launchpad includes AI, cybersecurity, and quantum computing.
The initiative has expanded to include Open Lab hours, AWS Tech Alliance Workshops, and student-focused sessions, workshops, events, and tours. As a result, 137 scholarships totaling more than $325,000 have been awarded through the Tech Launchpad.
SDI Presence LLC, a leading IT services firm, continues to fund the programme's expansion through 2026 with their $1M contribution. The Kennedy-King College Tech Launchpad is a testament to the power of education and industry collaboration, as transformation follows when these two entities unite.
