Tasmania's First Private 24/7 Cybersecurity Centre Now Operational

Cyber has inaugurated Tasmania's first privately owned, round-the-clock Security Operations Centre (SOC). This significant development aims to bolster cybersecurity measures and protect digital assets in the region.

The SOC, launched by Madeleine Ogilvie MP, Minister for Science and Technology, will actively contribute to training students, fostering local cybersecurity talent, and supporting businesses across Tasmania and Australia. Excite, a leading cybersecurity provider, is proud to have facilitated this development, with Mark Hitchcock, its Chief Operating Officer, overseeing the SOC's operations and growth.

The SOC's establishment follows an increased awareness of the need for cybersecurity skills development in Tasmania. It will not only serve local organisations but also extend its services nationwide, supporting Excite's Security Operations Centre in Sydney. Bryan Saba, founder of Excite Cyber, expressed that the SOC aims to strengthen defences and support local businesses.

Cyber's first privately owned 24/7 Security Operations Centre in Tasmania is now operational, marking a significant step towards enhancing cybersecurity measures and developing local cybersecurity talent in the region.
