Northern Kentucky University to Honour Three Alumni at Annual Alumni Awards Ceremony
The Haile College of Business at Northern Kentucky University (NKU) will be hosting its annual Alumni Awards Ceremony on September 23. This year, the event will honour three distinguished alumni for their achievements and contributions: Todd W. Best, Brigitte Blom, and Garrett Frey.
Todd W. Best ('90), a CPA and the managing partner of Deloitte's Cincinnati and Dayton practices, will receive the Business Leader of the Year Award. Best, who earned his Bachelor of Science in Accountancy from NKU, has been with Deloitte for over 36 years and has led strategic growth, marketplace expansion, and international tax initiatives.
Garrett Frey ('16), the senior product manager at FREY Municipal Software, will be awarded the Young Professional of the Year Award. Frey, who graduated with a degree in innovation and entrepreneurship from NKU's Haile College of Business, has led modernization, sales, and marketing initiatives that have increased revenue by more than 30 percent.
The ceremony's highlight will be the presentation of the Humanitarian of the Year Award. Unfortunately, no information is available about the person who received this award in 2025. However, Brigitte Blom ('05) will be honoured with the award this year.
Blom, the president and CEO of the Prichard Committee for Academic Excellence, has more than 25 years of leadership in education policy. Her work has influenced early childhood education, P-12 policy, and higher education reform. Blom is recognised for bringing diverse stakeholders together to create bipartisan solutions. She has served as an elected member of the Pendleton County Board of Education, vice chair of the Kentucky Board of Education, and currently leads statewide efforts to improve education outcomes.
Blom's exceptional leadership and service to NKU and the community will be celebrated at the event. The ceremony will take place from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the James C. and Rachel M. Votruba Student Union Ballroom on NKU's campus.
Brigitte Blom ('05) holds the Humanitarian of the Year Award. Todd W. Best ('90) and Garrett Frey ('16) will also be recognised for their significant contributions. The Alumni Awards Ceremony promises to be an inspiring evening, honouring the accomplishments of these outstanding alumni.
