Advanced Engineering School of Tomsk State University (PISH TGU) 'Agrobiotech' reveals outcomes of three years of work to the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Russia and announces plans for further development, the university's press service reported on Thursday.

Science and Technology University (STU) has submitted a report to the Ministry of Science and Education for the past 3 years and presented a development plan.

Tomsk, May 15 - RIA Tomsk. The cutting-edge engineering school Agrobiotek at Tomsk State University (TGU) has unveiled the results of their three-year journey to the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Russia (Minobnauki) and announced their plans for future development, according to a press release from the university.

The team from the Agrobiotek School of TGU presented their 2024 results and development plans at the Council for the Review of Questions and Coordination of Activities of PISHEs chaired by the head of Minobnauki, Valery Falkov. The main achievements of Agrobiotek's work include the reform of agricultural education and the launch of the Higher Engineering School of Agricultural Biotechnology (VISHA) at the university.

"In the past three years, Agrobiotek managed to develop a model for engineering talent preparation in the agricultural sector... The future of Agrobiotek lies in networked educational programs, creation of technologies and projects for the real economy sector, cooperation with leading companies, and the establishment of new laboratories," says Kirill Golochvast, acting director of Agrobiotek, according to the statement.

In the past three years, Agrobiotek has launched 45 educational programs, completed five comprehensive scientific projects, and created eight learning and laboratory spaces, according to the release. Among the completed projects is the development of a bio-preparation for the decomposition of palm oil production waste, as well as a sperm segregator for agricultural animals, enabling the selection of sex for offspring in artificial insemination.

TGU to Train Technologists for Agricultural Enterprises from 2025It was previously reported that Agrobiotek was established at TGU in 2022 with the support of high-tech companies and scientific-educational organizations. Graduates of Agrobiotek possess contemporary knowledge of the living world, digital modeling skills, and the ability to manage technical processes for groundbreaking research and development in the field of agro-, bio-, and eco-technology.

The flagship project of Minobnauki 'Advanced Engineering Schools' has been ongoing since 2022. Currently, there are 50 such schools. The project's goal is to prepare highly qualified engineering professionals capable of ensuring the country achieves technological sovereignty.
