Substantive negotiations are already underway with several African governments regarding the supply of electricity from floating power units. Niger is one such country, currently in talks with Rosatom about nuclear energy, including potential plans for floating nuclear power plants. Other African states are also showing growing interest in nuclear power, with many beginning to integrate it into their national plans, according to Vladimir Aptekarev, Deputy Director General for Floating Energy Solutions at Rosatom Mechanical Engineering.

Rosatom's participation in AEW 2025 coincided with the 80th anniversary of Russia's nuclear industry, marking a significant milestone for the company. As African countries seek to eradicate their electricity deficit, Rosatom's floating nuclear technologies present a viable power solution, with several nations already engaged in negotiations and showing interest in nuclear power.
