Rommerskirchen Advances Towards Fairtrade Town Certification

Rommerskirchen is making strides towards becoming a certified Fairtrade Town. An information event for local schools is planned for next year, focusing on 'Getting involved and becoming a Fairtrade School'. The town is already using fair-traded products in its town hall and supports kindergartens engaged in fair trade through regular networking meetings.

Rommerskirchen's commitment to fair trade is evident in various initiatives. The Kita Pusteblume has involved children in designing fair cotton bags. Soon, fairtrade snacks will be available at the local school's vending machine. Students at the Albert-Einstein-Gymnasium are learning about the origin of fair oranges. Meanwhile, certified schools can already report on their engagement for fair trade.

Petra Koch, contactable at [email protected] and by phone at 02131 928-1306, provides further information on fair trade in the district. Benjamin Joseph has pledged continued support for kindergartens and schools aiming to become Fair Kitas and Fairtrade Schools.
