Rising interest in career counseling services for technical and vocational fields

The Berufspaten Project, a venture sponsored by the non-profit Arbeitsförderungsgesellschaft im our organization mbH, aims to share professional knowledge and life experience with young people in their search for apprenticeships. This project, funded by the Hessian Ministry of Social Affairs and Integration, has been active in the organization since 2008.

The project offers a program called "Tandems on Time," where professional mentors support young people with migration or refugee backgrounds in their transition from school to work. Two young people who were accompanied by mentors throughout their entire apprenticeship have recently completed their training as IT merchants and housekeepers. One young man has even made it to university.

Carina Wetekam, a 10th-grader at Gustav-Heinemann-Realschule, is having her first job interview today. She is one of the 21 young people currently being accompanied by mentors in the "Tandems on Time" program. The mentors are integrated into a well-organized and professionally supervised network and receive compensation for their expenses.

The job interview training is one aspect of the Berufspaten Project. During this training, participants receive honest and respectful feedback, along with valuable tips for a convincing appearance in real job interviews. Bernhard Boss and Ernst Blömeke are her interviewers, acting as potential employers.

In addition to job interview training, mentors help with career orientation, writing job applications, finding internships and apprenticeships, and preparing for job interviews. The project also offers regular meetings for experience exchange, Stammtische, and further training to support volunteers.

Interested parties can contact coordinator Brigitte Vogler at Tel.: 0561−1003 1275 or Email: [email protected]. Further information can be found at: www.our website/berufspatenprojekt.

The Berufspaten Project is seeking more life- and work-experienced volunteers from the city and the organization to act as mentors. If you have decades of professional experience and wish to contribute to the future of young people, consider joining this worthwhile initiative.
