Refresh: Information on 7 training courses set to be updated in August
In a significant shift towards the future, the Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training (BIBB) has updated the training regulations for seven occupations, effective August 1, 2025. These occupations include Photographer, Florist, Gemstone Setter, Goldsmith and Silversmith (now combined into a joint training program), Chimney Sweep, Legal Administrative Specialist, and Office Manager.
The updated training for these professions will reflect the changing landscape of their respective industries, with a focus on digitalization, sustainability, and modern manufacturing techniques.
For the Photographer, the updated training will focus more on digital image processing and customer-oriented project work. Social media and new image formats will play a bigger role in the training, equipping aspiring photographers with the skills needed to thrive in the digital age.
The updated training for Florists will emphasize service orientation, communication, digitalization, sustainability, and business-related basic competencies. Florists will learn sustainable flower sourcing and eco-friendly arrangements, as well as designing flower and plant decorations for various occasions.
The updated Gemstone Setter training will include subject-specific aspects of sustainability and digitalization, as well as modern manufacturing techniques such as 3D printing. Gemstone Setters will focus more on setting rubies, emeralds, amber, or topaz into the appropriate setting.
The joint training program for Goldsmith and Silversmith will place greater emphasis on aspects such as sustainability, digitalization, modern manufacturing techniques, and customer consultation.
Chimney Sweeps will increasingly become service providers, and the topic of consultation, particularly on energy efficiency, will gain importance. The training will cover topics such as renewable energies, digital measurements, energy and resource conservation, and sustainability due to the energy transition.
Legal Administrative Specialists will focus more on aspects such as digital work processes, office software, project management, data security, data protection, information gathering, and information verification.
The commercial training in office management is one of the most popular in Germany, with 22,245 new training completions in 2024, ranking second among the occupations with the most training. Starting August, new content focuses for the office management training will include handling digital media and data, data security, data protection, information gathering, and information verification.
While the updated training regulations do not provide details about the other four occupations that BIBB has updated, it is clear that these changes aim to prepare individuals for the demands of the modern workforce. For precise details on the specific regulations for a particular country or jurisdiction, one would typically consult official vocational regulatory bodies or trade guilds relevant to these professions.
The updated training for these professions will encompass topics such as digitalization, sustainability, and modern manufacturing techniques to equip individuals for the demands of the modern workforce in fields like Photography, Floristry, Gemstone Setting, Office Management, and Legal Administrative Specialization. Personal growth and self-development through education and learning are essential components of these updated curriculums, catering to the evolving requirements of each industry.
