Ready for Interview Preparation
In the heart of the Kassel Region, an innovative mentoring project is making a significant impact. Funded by the Hessian Ministry of Social Affairs and Integration, the project, titled 'Tandems for a Time', is a separate initiative from the 'Fit for the Job Interview' training program.
The focus of this project is on supporting young people, particularly those with migration or refugee backgrounds, as they embark on their working lives. Seven vocational schools from the city and region participated in the training, which was organised by the mentoring project in collaboration with the youth employment service and the Chamber of Crafts Kassel.
The three-week online training program, titled 'Fit for the Job Interview', provided students from BÜA classes at vocational schools with the opportunity to practice job interviews for their desired apprenticeships via video. This was the first time many students had conducted an interview in this format, making the experience invaluable.
Participants could book appointments for online job interviews with fictional companies or businesses via a booking portal. After each interview, students received feedback and tips for further job-hunting activities, helping them to refine their skills and boost their confidence.
The mentoring project was not limited to the 'Fit for the Job Interview' training program. Eleven experienced mentors from various professions, such as business, education, human resources, management, marketing, social work, psychology, IT, finance, engineering, and communication, were available as sparring partners for the students.
Despite some initial technical issues and missed appointments, all involved agreed that the project should be continued next year. The overall conclusion of the mentors was that the project was a great learning experience and enjoyable.
The mentoring project is looking for more life- and work-experienced volunteers from the city and region to join the team. Interested parties can contact coordinator Brigitte Vogler at Tel.: 0561−1003 1275 or Mail: [email protected]. For more information, visit the project's website at www.ourwebsite/berufspatenprojekt.
In a world where job interviews are increasingly conducted online, this mentoring project is equipping the next generation with the skills they need to succeed. By providing a supportive environment and practical experience, it's helping young people in the Kassel Region to take their first steps on the career ladder with confidence.
