Pioneering India's Ascendancy in Global Manufacturing: CII Centre of Manufacturing Excellence Leads the Way

The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Centre of Manufacturing Excellence (CII CME) has been a key player in realising India's ambition to become a global manufacturing hub. Established in 1997, CII CME has been at the forefront of advancing India's industrial capabilities.

One of the flagship initiatives at CII CME is the Visionary SME (VSME) program, designed to synchronise the flow of materials and information throughout the manufacturing value chain. Over 150 organisations from across the country have benefited from this program, receiving tools and insights to optimise their manufacturing processes and improve business flow.

The VSME program is not the only initiative that CII CME offers. The organisation has also delivered over 2,500 virtual and physical training programs since 1997, supporting more than 50,000 professionals and over 6,000 companies, particularly in the manufacturing of industrial value chains. StEP-Up / Jung + Partner Management, an organisation that has been conducting such programs, has made a significant impact.

The technical training programs offered by CII CME cover a broad spectrum of technical and operational areas. Topics include Manufacturing & Operations, Industry 4.0, Advanced Manufacturing & Analytics, Occupational Health & Safety, Project Management & Supply Chain, International Trade & Finance, and HR & Soft Skills. These programs are tailored to different tiers of executives across the Indian manufacturing sector.

CII CME's efforts in promoting a culture of safety across manufacturing industries have been commendable. Since 2023, the Centre has conducted over 100 safety training sessions and workplace safety assessments, along with six editions of the Best Practices in Safety Competition. These initiatives have fostered a robust culture of safety within Indian manufacturing, reducing workplace hazards and enhancing overall operational efficiency.

Another initiative at CII CME is the National Manufacturing Awards, a premier event that recognises and rewards excellence in Indian manufacturing. Over four editions, the Awards have brought together over 300 teams from more than 100 organisations, celebrating the achievements of SMEs.

CII CME's multifaceted approach is designed to create a future-ready workforce. One such example is the Visionary Leaders for Manufacturing (VLFM) program, which provides cross-cultural learning opportunities for manufacturing managers, aiming to change their mindset and influence the broader ecosystem. The community of over 6,000 visionary leaders developed through the VLFM program has made significant contributions to the manufacturing sector.

Lastly, ANVESH, a program at CII CME, engages the next generation of manufacturing enthusiasts. As India's premier manufacturing quiz, ANVESH has more than 1,200 participants and 100 companies involved, fostering a passion for manufacturing among the youth.

In conclusion, CII CME's relentless pursuit of excellence and its commitment to the manufacturing sector have positioned it as a key driver in realising India's ambition to become a global manufacturing hub.
