Park University's Board of Trustees Expands with Two New Appointees
Col. Scott Gorman, Ph.D., and Carl Weilert have been elected as new members of Park University's Board of Trustees, effective July 1, 2023. Here's a brief overview of each new member's professional background.
Col. Scott Gorman, Ph.D.
Col. Scott Gorman, Ph.D., is a retired U.S. Air Force officer who now serves as a faculty member and administrator in higher education. His military career included leadership and operational roles, and he holds a Ph.D. in international relations. Gorman has served in faculty and administrative positions in higher education, including work with veteran and military-affiliated student programs. His background combines military leadership, veteran/student support, and academic administration, which aligns with Park University's mission and service to military students.
Carl Weilert
Carl Weilert is a business executive and finance professional with extensive experience in corporate finance and business leadership. He is known for his roles in strategic planning, financial oversight, and governance. Weilert is also involved in various board and civic activities, bringing private-sector governance and financial expertise to Park University's board.
Weilert founded CVW Consultants LLC in Overland Park in 2013, providing engineering consultation and expert testimony for air pollution control systems. Prior to starting CVW Consultants, Weilert spent 38 years at Burns & McDonnell in Kansas City, Mo. Despite his retirement from Burns & McDonnell in 2013, he continues to serve as an engineering consultant for the company.
Andrew Romer
Andrew Romer was re-elected to a second three-year term by the Board of Trustees. Romer is a technology director, electronic health records capabilities, at Baptist Health South Florida and a 2007 graduate of Park University.
The Board of Trustees at Park University also elected the following officers for the 2023-24 year:
