Yira Brimage, a seasoned veteran in higher education, has been appointed as the vice president of Park University's Gilbert Campus, effective from November 15, 2021. This marks a new chapter in Brimage's illustrious career, where she will hold the top leadership position for the University's Gilbert Campus.

Brimage's career in higher education spans over two decades, with her beginnings at Arizona State University (ASU). She served nine years in undergraduate admissions for various campuses, as well as in student affairs for the ASU East (now Polytechnic) Campus.

From 2000 to 2010, Brimage held various roles with Maricopa Community Colleges, including associate dean of enrollment services, dean of student affairs, and acting vice president of student affairs at Scottsdale Community College. During this period, she also served as vice president of student affairs at Phoenix College from 2010 to 2014.

Brimage's responsibilities have included academic programming, market development, community relations, fundraising, enrollment growth, student services, student academic support, student engagement, and athletic program development and growth. As vice president, she will be responsible for leading the strategic growth and operations of the campus.

In addition to her roles in higher education, Brimage has been active in the Tucson community. She has served as a liaison with the Tucson Urban League and Tucson Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, and as a board member with the University of Arizona Campus Christian Center, Wesley Fontera, Paiute Neighborhood Center in Scottsdale, Ariz., and Chandler-Gilbert (Ariz.) Arc.

Brimage is also a peer reviewer for the Higher Learning Commission, demonstrating her commitment to maintaining high standards in education. She is currently working to earn her Doctorate of Education degree in educational leadership from Northern Arizona University, with an anticipated graduation in Spring 2022, following the completion and successful defense of her dissertation on "Latina Leadership in Community College."

Before her appointment at Park University, Brimage was the principal and owner of Brimage Consulting in Tucson, Ariz., a firm specializing in working with educational, health care, and small businesses to prepare their workforces with competency-based skill development.

As the vice president of Park University's Gilbert Campus, Brimage will be a member of the University's executive leadership team. We look forward to the positive impact she will undoubtedly bring to the University and the Gilbert community.
