Over 650 children in Cordoba receive educational resources courtesy of the Red Cross
In the heart of Cordoba, Spain, the youth section of Cruz Roja Española, Cruz Roja Juventud, is making a difference in the lives of hundreds of children. This September, more than 650 minors in the province have benefited from the distribution of school supplies, thanks to the efforts of the organisation and its generous collaborators.
Cruz Roja Juventud's work is focused on responding to situations that generate vulnerability in the educational, social, and leisure areas for children and families in social difficulty. The school supplies, provided by the youth volunteers of Cruz Roja, include essential items such as backpacks, notebooks, pencils, markers, calculators, and compasses, among other articles.
The collaborations for the school supplies come from various sources. The Solidarity Carrefour Foundation, numerous companies, town halls such as Villanueva de Córdoba and Pozoblanco, and donations from the Cordovan citizenship have all contributed to this worthy cause. In some cases, a 30 euro voucher is added for parents and mothers to buy other materials they need for the return to school.
The entity itself contributes with own funds for the school supplies. The ages of members in Cruz Roja Juventud range from eight to thirty years. Alisson Salazar, the provincial coordinator of Cruz Roja Juventud in Cordoba, is responsible for organising volunteer activities and distributing school supplies to children in vulnerable families in the Córdoba province as part of humanitarian and solidarity efforts.
Alisson Salazar's work is instrumental in ensuring that the school supplies reach those who need them most. The school supplies will be distributed among minors in municipalities such as Priego de Córdoba, Pozoblanco, Rute, Baena, Lucena, Puente Genil, and Villanueva de Córdoba.
Cruz Roja Juventud's activities aim to promote social change from childhood and adolescence. By providing essential school supplies, they are not only helping children to start the new school year with the tools they need but also investing in a brighter future for the next generation.
