Fresh faces join Schweinfurt's Primary Customs Office: 23 young recruits embark on their customs occupation careers

New recruits commence their customary vocations at the principal customs office in Schweinfurt, with 23 fresh young professionals embarking on their Customs careers.

On September 2, 2025, the Main Customs Office Schweinfurt welcomed 23 new recruits into its ranks. These young officers are embarking on a secure and exciting career within the customs service, with a wide range of tasks awaiting them.

The new recruits have been formally taken into the civil service following their oath-taking and the presentation of their appointment certificates. Six of them are enrolled in a three-year bachelor's degree course in the higher service, while the remaining 17 are undergoing a two-year training in the middle service.

During their practical phases, the recruits will spend time in various departments of the training customs office and at nearby customs offices. This hands-on experience will provide them with a comprehensive understanding of the customs service and its operations.

For those interested in joining the customs service, applications for an appointment in the middle and higher customs service at the Main Customs Office Schweinfurt, or for the dual study of administrative informatics at the General Customs Directorate, can be submitted from September 1, 2026, until October 15, 2025.

More information on application, appointment, training, and study at customs can be found at www.zoll-karriere.de or www.zoll.de. The press contact for the Main Customs Office Schweinfurt is Anna-Lena Gernert, who can be reached at 09721/ 6464-1030 or by email at [email protected].

The theoretical training in the middle service takes place at the customs' own training centre in Erfurt, while the theoretical parts of the training in the higher service are completed at the Federal Administrative Academy in Münster. The training in the middle service lasts two years and entitles the holder to use the professional title of "Financial Officer". The dual study at the Main Customs Office Schweinfurt lasts three years and concludes with the academic degree "Bachelor of Laws".

Nationwide, 1,700 young people started their training or studies in the middle or higher service at customs on September 1, 2025. The head of the Main Customs Office Schweinfurt is Government Director Franziska Schubert.
