Incorporating field visits during onboarding process for new Brac Bank employees

New hires at BRAC Bank now include field visits as part of their initial training process.

BRAC Bank, in collaboration with BRAC, has introduced a unique structured exposure visit programme for new recruits. This initiative aims to enhance onboarding by integrating field-level learning into the induction process, fostering a values-driven workforce from the start.

The programme offers a holistic and practical induction experience that goes beyond conventional training. New employees get a first-hand exposure to BRAC’s community development and social impact initiatives in areas such as financial inclusion, education, healthcare, climate resilience, and livelihoods.

The purpose of the programme is threefold. It provides field exposure that offers strategic insights into BRAC’s community development work, facilitates perspective-sharing at leadership levels, and instills and operationalizes BRAC’s core values in daily work.

The visits, held twice a month, engage approximately 80 new coworkers each month, totaling nearly 1,000 annually. They include interactions with community members, observations of service delivery, and structured debriefs.

By experiencing the social and operational realities BRAC Bank serves, new recruits develop a deeper sense of purpose and practical knowledge. This field learning promotes a values-driven mindset, aligning recruits emotionally and intellectually with BRAC’s purpose, thereby supporting long-term employee engagement and mission-aligned performance.

Moreover, the programme strengthens BRAC Bank’s commitment to delivering purpose-led services. It equips new recruits with the tools they need to make effective decisions and contribute to leadership development within this integrated banking and social development framework.

The programme is supported by BRAC, the world's largest NGO, and is integrated into the onboarding process of BRAC Bank. It serves as a strategic bridge between recruitment and a values-centered, informed workforce, delivering field-level learning that strengthens onboarding, nurtures leadership, and promotes the social mission inherited from BRAC.
