The Kazakhstan State Educational Grant distribution for the academic year 2025-2026 has been finalised, with a total of 550 educational grants awarded under the Scholarship Program for foreigners and socially vulnerable Kazakh citizens.

Foreign Scholarships

The foreign scholarships are divided as follows: 10 for doctoral studies, 50 for master's programs, and 490 for bachelor's programs at Kazakhstani universities. A highly competitive selection process was conducted, attracting 13,723 applicants from 57 countries, an increase from 11,293 applicants from 50 countries in 2024.

After document review, 6,529 candidates passed to the online testing stage, assessing their adaptive potential. This was followed by a selection interview stage involving 5,200 candidates who demonstrated medium or high stress tolerance. The final list of recommended candidates was approved by the Scholarship Selection Commission on July 30, 2025, for enrollment in the academic year 2025–2026.

Local Grants

Separate from the foreigner-directed scholarship program, the Public Foundation “Kazakhstan Halkyna” provides educational grants to socially vulnerable Kazakh citizens. These grants cover full tuition for bachelor's degrees during full-time study and include a monthly scholarship of 40,000 tenge for living expenses up to 10 months a year. Grant amounts vary by field of study but do not exceed 1 million tenge per student.

Recipients must not have a prior higher education degree or a previously awarded state grant for higher education under the republican or local budget, and grants are not available for second higher education or online learning.

Transparent Allocation

The process is coordinated by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, scholarship commissions, and foundation boards to ensure transparent allocation based on merit and social need. Minister Sayasat Nurbek expressed his sincere gratitude to the commission members for their high-quality and responsible work.

The most popular fields among applicants are "Pedagogical Sciences", "Engineering, Processing, and Construction Industries", and "Information and Communication Technologies". The results of the grant competition will be published on the official information sources and social networks of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and the National Testing Center.

Completion of the Commission's Work

Minister of Science and Higher Education Sayasat Nurbek announced the completion of the commission's work on his Telegram channel. The admission process of applicants to higher education institutions will be completed by August 25, 2025.
