JKLU's Design Institute Wins Prestigious Don Norman Design Award 2025
The Institute of Design at JK Lakshmipat University (JKLU) has received international recognition for its innovative approach to design education. It has won the prestigious Don Norman Design Award (DNDA) 2025 for its B.Des and M.Des programmes.
The Systems Design programme at JKLU's Institute of Design stood out for its unique pedagogical approach, which balances systems thinking and community linkages. Professor A Balasubramaniam, Director of the Institute, stated that the award validates this approach.
The DNDA 2025 recognises programmes that demonstrate excellence in humanity-centred design education and cultivate future leaders. JKLU's Institute of Design is the only Indian institute selected for the award, alongside institutions from nine other countries. The DNDA was established by Professor Don Norman, a renowned figure in the design world who has worked with companies like Apple and HP.
Professor Vijaysekhar Chellaboina, Vice Chancellor of JKLU, expressed that the award recognises the importance of the Institute of Design's innovative approach. The programme prepares students for the real world through an empathic, participatory, and co-creative lens, as praised by the DNDA.
The Institute of Design at JKLU will be honoured at the DNDA Summit in Singapore from November 19-21, 2025. This award underscores the global significance of the Institute's approach to design education and its impact on cultivating future design leaders.
