Indigenous Futures 4Ever Holiday Market Held by 4KINSHIP NextGen
In the heart of Santa Fe, New Mexico, a unique event is set to take place this November. The Indigenous Futures 4EVER NextGen Holiday Market, organised by the Diné (Navajo)-led artwear brand 4KINSHIP, promises to be a vibrant celebration of Indigenous artisans and culture.
Founded by Amy Denet Deal, 4KINSHIP is a Diné woman-owned brand with a mission to blend art, fashion, and creativity while celebrating and empowering Indigenous creativity. This year, they are collaborating with the Inspiring Children Foundation and the 501C3 organisation, Indigenous Futures 4EVER, to support emerging Indigenous artists.
The market, scheduled for November 29th and 30th, 2024, at the Santa Fe Railyard, will showcase the work of 30 emerging Indigenous artists. Visitors can expect a diverse array of handmade art, jewelry, clothing, food, and home goods, all crafted with traditional techniques and modern flair.
Christine Robertson, Executive Director of the Santa Fe Railyard Community Corporation, is excited to have the Railyard as the venue for the event. "We are thrilled to host the Indigenous Futures 4EVER NextGen Holiday Market," she said. "It's an opportunity for our community to come together and support Indigenous creators during the holiday season."
Diné College is also participating in the event, showcasing its commitment to preserving and sharing Navajo cultural arts. Two Diné skaters, Shawnshine Harrison and Peyton Alex, will be creating hand-painted skateboards for the event, with proceeds from the Diné Skate Garden Project gifts funding more skateboards for kids on the Navajo Nation.
Cultural Survival, an organisation advocating for Indigenous Peoples' rights since 1972, is a sponsor of the event. Aimee Roberson, Cultural Survival's Executive Director and a member of the Chickasaw and Choctaw nations, emphasised the importance of supporting Indigenous businesses and culture. "Our vision is a future that respects and honours Indigenous Peoples' inherent rights and dynamic cultures," she said.
The event is free for both artists and the community, making it an accessible and inclusive celebration of Indigenous art and culture. For more information, visitors can contact Laura Baumgartner at [email protected] or visit
