Increasing costs in music school Hagen - Quantified financial ascent of the courses

The Max-Reger-Music School in Hagen, Germany, has announced changes to its fee structure, effective from September 2022. The changes aim to address the significant increase in general living costs and the rise in inflation over the years.

For the young band "Nova," consisting of Max, Finn, Alexander, and Mischa (ages 17-19), the good news is that they will not have to pay any additional fees as they are internal students of the music school. Similarly, for internal students, participation in ensembles will remain free of charge.

However, for adult students (over 25 years), there will be an increase in fees. An adult student will now pay 93.72 euros per month for a 45-minute individual lesson, up from 78.10 euros previously.

In large ensembles like big bands, orchestras, etc., no additional adult surcharge will be charged for external members. However, a basic membership fee of 5 euros per month is generally applicable for external members in these ensembles. For smaller bands, combos, etc., the fee is based on group rates, plus any applicable adult surcharge.

The fee for musical preschool (60 minutes weekly, group lessons) has been increased from 24 euros to 26 euros for 45 minutes of group lessons.

The rental fee for instruments has also seen an increase. The rental fee for instruments valued up to 500 euros has increased from 10 euros to 12 euros in the first year, and from 15.50 euros to 18 euros after the first year.

The school management can set the monthly fee for further ensembles or music groups on a case-by-case basis. It is best to consult the Max-Reger-Musikschule Hagen’s official website or contact the school administration directly for the exact updated fees after September 2022.

The music school, which employs 57 teaching staff, mostly part-time, hosted 67 events last year, including children's concerts, rock, pop, jazz, international folklore, dance concerts, and ballet performances.

In addition to the fee increase, the school has also introduced a sibling discount, furthering its commitment to making music education accessible to all. The previous social discount will remain in place.

The new regulation allows for the integration of new group offers into the music school's offerings without changing the entire charter.

For those interested in joining the Max-Reger-Music School, it is recommended to visit their official website or contact the school administration for the latest information on the updated fee structure and available ensembles.

Education-and-self-development and learning are crucial aspects for the students at Max-Reger-Music School, as they strive to improve their musical skills through individual lessons, ensemble participation, and group classes. Despite the fee increase for adult students and changes in the rental fees for instruments, the school remains committed to making music education accessible, by offering a sibling discount and maintaining free participation for internal students in ensembles.
