IG Masonry Support's brick slip soffit solutions contribute significantly to the realization of an architect's ambitious plan for a vast urban housing development.
In the heart of Camden, north-west London, a significant transformation is underway with the Regent's Park Regeneration project. This £72m development, shortlisted for several industry awards, is set to provide 122 affordable new homes and community facilities.
The development, spearheaded by Lovell Homes London in collaboration with architects Ingleton Wood, is being delivered across eight sites within the existing estate. Each building presents a unique challenge, and IG Masonry Support has played a pivotal role in overcoming these challenges.
The buildings, ranging from three-to-eleven storeys in height, showcase a variety of designs. IG Masonry Support worked closely with the contractor and architect to develop prefabricated brick slip components for the project's apartment blocks. The company's offsite manufacture of bespoke, pre-fabricated brick slip components helped to significantly speed up the achievement of various brickwork features in an array of bespoke designs for the exterior of the blocks.
Brickworks, a company specialising in prefabricated brick-clinker components, provided the materials for this project. IG Masonry Support's prefabricated solutions, manufactured using site bricks, blended seamlessly with the buildings' exteriors. The company even designed bespoke B.O.S.S. units for the Newlands and Rydal Water buildings.
Brick soffits varying in depth from 102mm to 440mm were achieved on the various elevations of the buildings. A flying beam with a 665mm soffit was achieved on the upper level balconies of the Varndell building. These intricate brick elements and brick soffits throughout the development were made possible thanks to the use of prefabricated brick slip components.
The Regent's Park Regeneration project has been a crucial step in providing new homes and peace of mind for hundreds of residents whose domestic lives were disrupted by the government's rail project. The development follows the demolition of housing and businesses in the area to make way for the High Speed 2 rail link between London and the West Midlands.
As the project nears completion, it's clear that the Regent's Park Regeneration will be a significant addition to Camden's skyline, offering a blend of modern living and traditional brickwork design.
