Heidelberg University Launches New CAS in Gender & Queer Studies
The University of Heidelberg is expanding its academic offerings for the winter semester 2025/2026. Applications are still open for a new Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS) in Gender & Queer Studies, which aims to equip students with tools to recognize and address discrimination mechanisms across various topics.
This four-semester program, run under the heiSKILLS umbrella, is open to master's students and doctoral candidates from all disciplines. It focuses on gender relationships, concepts of gender, body, and sexuality, drawing on expertise from departments such as sociology, medicine, history, and political science.
The CAS enables students to apply Gender & Queer Studies approaches to diverse subjects and includes a professionally qualifying internship in a thematically related field. While there are no specific organizations listed for internships within the CAS program, companies and offices in the region, like the Office for Equal Opportunities of the City of Heidelberg and UNIFY, offer internship places.
The University of Heidelberg's new CAS in Gender & Queer Studies offers students a comprehensive exploration of gender and queer studies, culminating in a practical internship. Interested students can still apply, with further information available on the heiSKILLS homepage.
