Globe's Future Makers Program Boosts Philippine Social Enterprises

Globe, a leading Philippine telecommunications company, has been fostering local innovation and inclusion through its Globe Future Makers program since 2017. Two notable social enterprises, Virtualahan and The Spark Project, have flourished under this initiative, demonstrating the power of technology in bridging gaps and creating sustainable business models.

Initially launched as Globe Future Makers, the program has since expanded regionally under Singtel Group Future Makers, nurturing 85 startups and impacting over 24 million lives across 11 countries. Locally, Globe has collaborated with Virtualahan and The Spark Project to launch thematic initiatives, such as connecting marginalized groups to employment opportunities and hosting creative events.

Virtualahan, winner of the inaugural Globe Future Makers in 2017, has since grown its revenues by 300% and launched two spinoffs. The enterprise has trained 1,267 persons with disabilities, achieving a 66% employment rate and a 25% income increase for graduates. Meanwhile, The Spark Project, a crowdfunding platform for creatives, has assisted 135 enterprises, channelled ₱25.5 million into impact projects, and established a ₱16.6 million loan fund with Globe and SGFM's backing.

Both Virtualahan and The Spark Project have been recognized in the Singtel Group Future Makers 2025 Impact Report, highlighting their significant contributions to Philippine social entrepreneurship. As the program enters its final year, Singtel will focus on supporting alumni ventures and strengthening cross-market collaborations. Globe remains committed to nurturing local social enterprises that harness technology for meaningful, sustainable change.
