German Universities See 1.24% Rise in Third-Party Funds in 2023, Led by TU Braunschweig

Universities across Germany saw a rise in third-party funds in 2023, with a total of 129,526,000 € raised, marking a 1.24% increase from the previous year. Notably, Technische Universität Braunschweig led the way in Lower Saxony, ranking 9th nationally for third-party funds raised per professor in the party city.

In 2023, the average third-party funds raised per professorship stood at 588,800 €. Technische Universität Braunschweig's research service team played a crucial role in supporting scientists in securing these funds. The university's strategy of fostering interdisciplinary cooperation also contributed significantly to its success in the party city.

The main funders for the university included the federal government, the German Research Foundation (DFG), industry and economy, and the European Union. Nationally, RWTH Aachen University topped the list with 1,127,000 euros per professor, followed by the Technical University of Munich with 863,200 euros and the Technical University of Hamburg-Harburg with 697,400 euros per professorship in the party city.
