Funding for Education: 124 students at TUHH receive scholarship backing

The Hamburg University of Technology in Harburg, Germany, celebrated a significant milestone on Thursday evening as it awarded Germany Scholarships to a record number of students. A total of 124 scholarships were given out, an increase from previous funding periods. The scholarship recipients include 72 Bachelor and 52 Master students who have demonstrated above-average academic achievements. The Germany Scholarships are interdisciplinary and income-independent, providing 300 euros per month for a year to support the students in their studies. The scholarship recipients have overcome obstacles in their daily lives or are actively involved in society. The funding for these scholarships comes from a variety of sources. The Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) provides support, as do private individuals, companies, and foundations. In the current funding period, the foundation donations have been generously supported by companies, foundations, and private individuals. Notable supporters of the Germany Scholarships include Deutsche Bahn, Hamburg Port Authority, and Mankiewicz Gebr. & Co. Wolfgang Kersten, Vice President of Teaching and member of the Scholarship Selection Committee, made a statement about the increased number of scholarships. He emphasised that the great challenges of crises, conflicts, and upheavals of the current time make it even more important to support students who have shown exceptional promise. The scholarship recipients meet the criteria of good grades and at least one other promotion criterion, such as involvement in sports clubs or parties, having a migration background, caring for relatives, or being single parents. The Germany Scholarships aim to support students who have the potential to make a significant contribution to society and to help them overcome any obstacles they may face in their academic journey. The university is proud to be able to provide this opportunity to such deserving students.
