Fully-Funded PhD in Arts Engagement & Health Inequalities at Newcastle University
Newcastle University, in collaboration with the Royal Society of Arts (RSA), is offering a fully-funded PhD position starting in January 2026. This opportunity is part of the University's wider investment in the Creative Industries Policy and Evidence Centre (Creative PEC), led by Newcastle University with the RSA.
The three-year PhD studentship is available for full-time students and focuses on the health and well-being benefits of arts engagement. Applicants can explore the consumption of one or various forms of engagement to address health inequalities, a topical policy concern. The successful candidate will develop their own research project within the broad theme of arts engagement and health/well-being outcomes.
Arts engagement encompasses a wide range of participation in arts, culture, and heritage, as well as creative industries. The PhD is based in the Economics department and will delve into cost-effective approaches to reduce health inequalities.
