EfM Celebrates 50 Years with New Study Groups and Events
Education for Ministry (EfM), a renowned provider of theological education, is marking its 50th anniversary in 2025. To celebrate this milestone, EfM is introducing a series of six-week study groups called Reflections, offering participants the chance to delve into contemporary topics.
EfM has a rich history dating back to 1975, initially known as Theological Education by Extension. Over the past five decades, more than 120,000 individuals have taken the EfM course, reflecting its enduring impact and popularity.
To accommodate varying schedules and learning preferences, EfM now offers a four-year course alongside shorter options and an online portal for some curriculum. In honour of its golden jubilee, EfM will rename its traditional course 'EfM: Classic' and introduce a new one-year course, 'EfM: Wide Angle'.
The anniversary celebrations will take place from June 5-8 at the University of the South. The event will feature a keynote address by the Rev. Stephanie Spellers and a concert by Lilli Lewis. A commemorative book of essays, 'Education for Ministry - 50 Years of Engaging, Responding, and Reflecting', has also been compiled to mark the occasion.
Education for Ministry continues to evolve and adapt, offering new ways for individuals to explore and deepen their understanding of theology. As it celebrates 50 years of service, EfM looks forward to another half-century of engaging, responding, and reflecting with its community.
