District's Reading Proficiency Surges to 83% Among Pre-K-5 Students
Reading proficiency among Pre-K-5 students in the district has surged. By the end of the 2024-25 school year, 83 percent of these students were reading at or above their grade level, a significant jump from 41 percent. Lexia's programs played a crucial role in this achievement.
Lexia Core5 Reading, a comprehensive literacy program, has proven effective in accelerating learning for students below grade level. A study of over 1.3 million students supports this. By the end of the 2024-25 school year, 83 percent of Pre-K-5 students using Core5 had skills at or above their grade level.
The program also boosted advanced skills. The percentage of students working on advanced skills in all strands increased from 1 percent to 41 percent. Notably, more than a third of students working two or more grades below their level ended the year at or above their grade level. This progress aligns with students using Lexia PowerUp Literacy, with 55 percent of middle and high school students covering three grades of reading within a year. Students using Core5 also outperformed the national average within one school year. Moreover, 85 percent of students using PowerUp saw their reading skills improve by at least six grades by the end of the 2024-25 school year.
Lexia's programs have driven remarkable improvements in reading proficiency among students. With 83 percent of Pre-K-5 students now reading at or above their grade level, the district looks forward to continued progress in literacy education.
