Cultural Affairs Department to Organize Programs for Pune Children's Book Fair

Pune, India - In an era overwhelmed by artificial intelligence, OTT platforms, and the internet, the Department of Cultural Affairs in Pune is set to organize cultural programs as part of the 2025 Pune Children's Book Fair. The initiative, aimed at promoting traditional activities over digital platforms, will take place at the Ganesh Kala Krida Manch.

Ashish Shelar, the state's cultural affairs minister, expressed his support for the event during his visit to the fair on Saturday. He emphasized the importance of such programs in nurturing good values, keeping children's sensitivity alive, and developing their talents. The cultural department will cooperate in the initiative, aiming to make it a model of value-based child development in the state.

Praising this year's organizers, Shelar commended the fair's ability to foster real intelligence in children. He also noted its significance in addressing social challenges, particularly in a time when the family system is weakening. The Prithviraj BP, the additional municipal commissioner, announced the city's commitment to supporting the fair annually and expressed ambitions for Pune to become the book capital.

The three-day event has already welcomed over 25,000 children, according to Rajesh Pande, the festival's chief organizer. The fair will feature cultural exchange programs, children's writing contests, poetry readings, magic and puppet shows, and traditional games, making it an engaging and valuable experience for young participants.

During his visit, Shelar engaged with children, played traditional games, and released several children's books. The fair serves as a platform to promote a love for reading and books, emphasizing the unique joy of holding a book in one's hands.

  1. To complement the 2025 Pune Children's Book Fair, the cultural department plans to organize a cricket match for the children, encouraging the fusion of traditional and modern activities within the realm of education-and-self-development.
  2. Amidst the announcement of the annual Pune Children's Book Fair, the Ministry of General News reported on the significant increase in book sales during last year's event, reflecting the fair's impact on India's literary scene and fostering a love for reading among children nationwide.
