Debate Event Transitioning from Computer Coding to Scientific Research

Landshut is set to host an exciting eventbrite event on April 29th, aimed at inspiring young minds and making MINT fields more accessible. The "Zukunftswerker - alle Talente MINTnehmen" project, funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, brings together the city of Landshut, University of Applied Sciences Landshut, MINT Forum Bayern e.V., Silicon Vilstal gUG, DOM e.V. neighborhood center, and Weltacker Landshut e.V.

The kick-off event, taking place in the town hall foyer, will start with a warm welcome by Mayor Alexander Putz and a greeting from Bavarian State Parliament President Ilse Aigner. The brass band of the Hans-Carossa-Gymnasium will provide the musical framework for the day.

The event offers a variety of interactive activities around MINT topics for young people aged 10 to 16, from 11 am to 4 pm. Participants can interact with project partners, test VR headsets, and experiment with 3D printers. Different formats will be planned as fixed MINT workshops, covering mathematics, natural sciences, informatics, and technology. A mobile MINT workshop from the MINT Forum Bayern will be used to take offers to all parts of the region.

The "Mittwochs-MINT" format, provided by the university, offers application-oriented and practical insights into MINT topics for students aged 10 to 14. The Landshuter MINT-Cluster particularly highlights the MINT theme of nutrition, engaging young people in global food issues and aspects of sustainable food production.

Astrid Heindel, a scientific employee at the Energy Technology Center Ruhstorf, will present science in an exciting way at the Science Slam starting at 12 pm. Students Lilly Feuerecker and Natalie Brendel from the Maximilian-von-Montgelas-Gymnasium Vilsbiburg will present their experiments for the "Jugend forscht" competition. At 2 pm, Paul Ferber from the youth group of the DOM e.V. neighborhood center will present the programming courses of the association.

The DOM e.V. neighborhood center will also introduce an open offer for independent work by young people. The Silicon Vilstal initiative focuses on playful discovery and intrinsic creativity of children and young people, using digital media and modern technology.

Participation in all offers is free and registration is not required. This event is a great opportunity for young people to explore their interests in MINT fields and gain hands-on experience. Don't miss out on this exciting day!
