Council Meeting Ensues
The Düsseldorf Children's Protection Association is set to commence its Youth Advising Youth training program on November 21/22 at the youth hostel in Bad Münstereifel. This training is part of the nationwide "Number against Sorrow" initiative, which has been instrumental during pandemic times and is increasingly being used.
Established in 1980, the "Number against Sorrow" is an easily accessible, free, and anonymous counseling service. The training covers a wide range of topics, including communication and conversation skills, performance pressure, bullying at school, problems with parents, sexuality and partnership, experiences of violence and abuse, eating and drug addiction, grief, and illness.
The training duration is 70 hours and is composed of a weekend at the youth hostel, six Saturdays, a final weekend, observations with experienced advisors, and visits to facilities like Pro Familia or the Child Protection Ambulance. Upon completion, a certificate will be issued for participation in the training and voluntary activity.
The training is followed by 15 telephone duties, and as one of 89 local carriers of the nationwide "Number against Sorrow", the Children's Protection Association Düsseldorf currently offers 27 specially trained volunteers for counseling conversations.
Bernhard Müller-Hildebrand, coordinator for the Children and Youth Telephone in Düsseldorf, emphasised the importance of the service, stating that there are youth between 16 and 23 years old at the other end of the phone line, helping many young people to overcome the hurdle in crisis situations and seek a conversation.
Interested individuals are invited to attend an information evening about the training, scheduled at the business office of the Düsseldorf Children's Protection Association, Lierenfeld, on November 9 at 6:30 PM. Registration for this event is required via the contact address: [email protected].
While the cost of the training is 75 euros, the specifics regarding the cost or duration of the training, or the number of telephone duties after the training, were not found in the available search results. For more detailed information about the curriculum or related specifics, guidance can be provided on how to typically find such program details or describe what such youth advisory training programs generally include based on standard practice.
- The training program, part of the "Number against Sorrow" initiative, focuses on education-and-self-development topics such as communication skills, bullying, sexuality, and personal-growth issues, aiming at promoting lifelong-learning and personal growth.
- The online-education aspect of the training will be delivered through sessions at the youth hostel, six Saturdays, observations with experienced advisors, and visits to facilities, fostering a comprehensive learning environment.
- Upon completing the 70-hour training and 15 telephone duties, participants will receive a certificate, initiating their journey in online-education for personal-growth and becoming part of a wider network that offers counseling services for young people.
