Alexis Dill: Promoting Baseball and Empowering Women

After graduating from Oberlin College in 2020, Alexis Dill has dedicated her career to promoting the Worcester Red Sox, a professional baseball team. This role showcases her application of communication skills in a sports marketing or promotional context [1][2][3].

Dill's journey began at Oberlin, where she majored in English and minored in rhetoric. Her academic advisor, Emeritus Professor of English T.S. McMillin, played a significant role in her academic growth. Dill's passion for baseball was evident in her writings for The Oberlin Review, where she penned columns about her shared love of the sport with her father, Brad Dill '86 [4].

In her fourth season with the WooSox, the AAA affiliate of the Boston Red Sox, Dill leads a team of eight employees in the front office. Her career with the team was kick-started upon completing her master's program at Emerson College, when she accepted a job as a public relations coordinator at the invitation of her first professor, Dr. Charles Steinberg, who is now the president of the Worcester Red Sox [5].

Dill's experience at Oberlin, with its diverse community, empowered her to take on speaking engagements and public appearances [6]. She represented Oberlin on a panel of eight NCAA Division III athletes at the 2019 College Sports Communicators Convention [7]. Speaking in front of 300 collegiate athletic directors was a challenging experience for Dill, but she embraced it as a way to grow and succeed [8].

Dill is an advocate for women in leadership positions in sports. She believes that it's possible to rise to the executive level in sports and have a family [9]. In July 2025, Dill sat on an all-star panel discussing increasing participation in baseball, particularly for women and girls [10].

This year, Janet Marie Smith, a renowned sports architect, is one of the inductees into the WooSox Hall of Fame [11]. Dill's proudest accomplishment remains graduating from Oberlin College [12]. In addition to her academic and professional pursuits, Dill also took courses in art history, religion, and neurology during her time at Oberlin College [13].

In her current role, Dill continues to inspire and empower, just as she was inspired at Oberlin. Her story serves as a testament to the power of communication skills and the impact they can have in the world of sports.

In her role with the Worcester Red Sox, Alexis Dill pursues personal growth through sports and baseball while empowering women, much like her academic growth at Oberlin College. Drawing on her courses in art history, religion, and neurology, Dill seeks to apply diverse perspectives in her professional endeavors, fostering an environment that encourages education-and-self-development.
