Closing Ceremony Praise: Exemplary Students of Burgenland Impress at Final School Performance
Let's dive into the achievements of Burgenland's brightest minds, from students to apprentices and musicians. It's time to shine a spotlight on those who've excelled this school year, albeit the list is far from exhaustive.
33,000 eligible for accolades
From primary schoolers to graduates, the impressive array of talent across Burgenland is apparent. Among the 292 who passed their maturity exam with "outstanding success," making up a fifth of all those "matriculated," deserve our special recognition.), the road to success wasn't always smooth for many, with perseverance, determination, and a dash of grit required by some. That's precisely why encouragement is in order for those who found themselves having to pause and try again, like our very own Federal Chancellor, Karl Nehammer, who walked that same path.
Top Apprentices
An apprenticeship may be the next logical step for those who've recently completed their education. Marlene Wendelin, an extraordinary student from North Burgenland, proves just that by opting for an unconventional educational path. Not only did she ace her Commercial Academy graduation, but she also mastered a double apprenticeship as a pastry chef and baker. Her triumph in the state apprentice competition has surely solidified her status as an exceptional protégée.
Eight young souls also made a name for themselves this school year by conquering their respective apprenticeships with Matura from the WIFI Burgenland. The competitive landscape graced by numerous state and federal level competitions in apprentice training boasts a plethora of talented participants, winners, and award recipients. Among them, Nico Andreas Freitag, Simon Fellinger, and Sebastian Griecher left their mark with outstanding performances.
Musical Talents Abound
The state of Burgenland has long been associated with musical greats like Joseph Haydn and Franz Liszt; it seems a new wave of musical prodigies are stepping up to the plate. One shining example is Hannah Sachslehner, a 15-year-old oboist who earned the title of national champion in her age category IIIplus by sweeping the federal "prima la musica" competition with a jaw-dropping 99 out of 100 points. Her musical resume is impressive, including numerous appearances on the competition stage, scholarships, and membership in local and regional orchestras.
Of course, Hanni's not the only shining star in Burgenland's music scene. The Tigers Stegersbach women's team put on an impressive show, securing the inline skater hockey state championship. Their pride and joy will be on full display during an upcoming 7 PM castle ceremony.
The swim-happy contingent of athletes in Burgenland also brought home some shiny hardware. Florian Schumich, a long-distance swimmer, captured the state championship title over five kilometers and second place over double the distance. His brother Felix took home the junior Austrian championship title in the same five-kilometer race, while Theo Prandstetten was the fifth fastest Austrian in the entire event, making a splash at just his very first lake event. Pia Pusterhofer and Rosa Weißeisen-Halwax scored bronze and sixth place, respectively, in their respective junior class competitions.
As we celebrate the collective achievements of Burgenland's talented youth, we eagerly await the exploits of tomorrow's prodigies. So here's to the students, apprentices, and artists who will undoubtedly prove the state's vibrant tradition of excellence will continue to thrive.
