Children's and family center in Bremen-Lesum marks Richtfest celebration.

The city of Bremen is set to welcome a new Children and Family Center, Lesum, as the old building is replaced with a modern, eco-friendly facility. The topping-out ceremony for the new center was attended by several key figures, including Petra Stubakow, an architect, and Henrik Wohltmann from the construction company Stehnke.

The new center, under the trusteeship of the municipal Eigenbetrieb KiTa Bremen, is a nine-million-euro project that spans two stories and boasts a gross floor area of 1,540 square meters. It will accommodate up to 120 children, with six groups and corresponding differentiation rooms.

The new center is built to the Passivhaus standard, ensuring it is ecologically friendly and energy-efficient. It also features a new production kitchen for preparing meals for children daily.

Jessica Langenberg, the acting director of KiTa Bremen, and Petra Zschüntzsch, deputy managing director and pedagogical director of KiTa Bremen, were also present at the ceremony. Zschüntzsch expressed her pleasure at expanding the pedagogical offer in the neighborhood with the new building, while Langenberg noted that the old building had only 60 care places in four groups and no longer met modern Kita requirements.

The new center will create additional Kita places with three new groups, addressing the need for more childcare facilities in the area. The old building will temporarily house children during construction at a mobile building at Klostermühlenweg.

Senator for Finance Björn Fecker attended the ceremony and expressed his belief that the new center will significantly improve the care situation in the neighborhood. The center is expected to be occupied in late summer 2025.

Kerstin Brockmüller, project manager at Immobilien Bremen, was also present, overseeing the construction progress of the new center. However, specific details about the construction progress, completion date, or sustainable features of the new Children and Family Center Lesum are not yet available.

For the latest updates on the center, it is recommended to check official Bremen city government websites, local news portals, or contact the project developers directly. The new Children and Family Center Lesum is set to be a valuable addition to the community, providing high-quality childcare in a modern, eco-friendly facility.
