Chicago charities offer educational resources to teachers and pupils for the forthcoming academic term
Art of Giving Foundation and Cradles to Crayons Support Chicago Students and Teachers for the New School Year
The Art of Giving Foundation, a nonprofit organisation based in Chicago, is working tirelessly to ensure that teachers and students in Chicago Public Schools (CPS) are well-equipped for the upcoming academic year. The foundation, founded by Autumn Pippenburg, focuses on providing essential supplies directly to CPS teachers to stock their classrooms for the entire school year.
In previous years, the Art of Giving Foundation had organised backpack drives for students. However, they discovered that many students did not take their supplies back to the classroom, leaving teachers without the necessary resources. To address this issue, the foundation started stocking classrooms with supplies, including art kits, books, and other materials. This approach ensures that teachers have what they need all year long, helping over 400 teachers and impacting about 60,000 students across more than 2,000 classrooms.
Meanwhile, Cradles to Crayons, another organisation dedicated to helping Chicago families, organises events such as the Backpack-A-Thon in the North Center neighborhood. Volunteers fill thousands of new backpacks with school supplies purchased through ticket donations. These backpacks are then distributed to Chicago families in need to prepare children with the necessary supplies for the start of the school year.
The efforts of the Art of Giving Foundation and Cradles to Crayons complement each other, enhancing the back-to-school experience for Chicago students and educators. This year, teachers will be picking up their supplies on Sunday from the Art of Giving Foundation in Logan Square. On Saturday, volunteers spent their day packing up boxes of school supplies to be distributed to the teachers.
With these generous efforts, the Art of Giving Foundation is helping Chicago Public Schools teachers get ready for the new school year, ensuring that they have enough supplies for the entire year. The foundation's work is making a significant difference in the lives of students and teachers across the city.
The Art of Giving Foundation is extending their support beyond just the start of the school year, ensuring teachers have learning materials for education-and-self-development throughout the academic year. Cradles to Crayons, in collaboration, provides news and resources for students, including school supplies for a successful and well-equipped learning experience.
