Chemnitz Mayor Heads to Asia to Strengthen Microelectronics Partnerships
Chemnitz Mayor Sven Schulze is embarking on a significant trip to Asia from September 29 to October 5. He will represent Saxon municipalities in a high-level delegation to Taiwan, Japan, and Singapore, aiming to foster international partnerships and explore joint project opportunities.
The journey begins in Taiwan, where Schulze will meet with Dr. Eva Langerbeck of the Foreign Trade Chamber (AHK) Taiwan. The city of Chemnitz boasts a unique European facility, the European Test and Reliability Center (ETRC) of Fraunhofer ENAS, which qualifies and ensures the reliability of semiconductor technologies. Schulze is set to sign cooperation agreements with Asian institutions focused on future-oriented microelectronics during his visit.
In Japan, a meeting is planned with Jiro Kogi, Deputy Secretary General of EU-Japan Fest, at the Saxon evening reception in the German pavilion of Expo 2025. Schulze's trip aims to intensify contacts, expand networks, and open up new opportunities for cooperation in economy and research. The delegation's visit to Singapore will culminate in signing a cooperation agreement with the A*STAR Institute of Microelectronics (IME).
Mayor Sven Schulze's trip to Asia underscores Chemnitz's commitment to international partnerships. By engaging with key institutions and signing cooperation agreements, the city seeks to position itself at the forefront of future-oriented microelectronics and expand its global network.
