Career Mentoring Project Boosts 400 Young People's Skills in Hessian City

A career mentoring project in the city has seen almost 400 young people benefit from training this year. The project, funded by the Hessian Ministry of Social Affairs and Integration, has been running for nearly 15 years and offers valuable support to young people seeking apprenticeships.

The project provides a range of services, including practical training and career orientation in cooperation with partner companies. This year, 64 students honed their interview skills by practicing in real scenarios. One student commented, 'I now know what I can improve.' Additionally, the 'Fit for Job Interviews' training was held at Elisabeth-Selbert School in Zierenberg, involving 10 volunteer career mentors. These volunteers, who enjoy their commitment, receive regular further training and reflection discussions to enhance their support to young people. The project also offers individual support through 'tandems on time' for apprenticeship searches. While the exact numbers of training companies involved are not specified, the STARTklar project in Mengen, for instance, has been running for several years with practical phases involving partner companies.

The career mentoring project has proven successful, with over 400 students participating in training at vocational companies this year. The project's volunteers, who receive regular training, play a crucial role in providing valuable feedback to young people on their application documents and personal appearance. This initiative, funded by the Hessian Ministry of Social Affairs and Integration, continues to make a significant impact on the city's young people's career prospects.
