Cambridge Launches 'Your Future Story' to Boost South West Students' Aspirations
The University of Cambridge has launched a new scheme, Your Future Story, in partnership with various stakeholders to raise educational aspirations in South West England. More than 100 delegates attended the inaugural conference at the University of Exeter, marking a rare and powerful collaboration between schools, trusts, and university leaders. Meanwhile, the Colyton Foundation's Director, Nick Wakeling, expressed enthusiasm about a shared commitment to equitable access to opportunity through a new scheme supporting 1,000 high-attaining students from under-resourced communities in Devon, Cornwall, Somerset, and Dorset over the next decade.
Your Future Story aims to inspire and support students from under-resourced communities. The scheme will provide funding and visits to colleges with existing links to the area. The first 100 pupils have already joined the program this term, with new cohorts added each year until 1,000 children are supported.
In other news, the ETIH Innovation Awards 2026 are set to celebrate excellence in global education technology. Entries are open to organizations across the UK, the Americas, and internationally, focusing on workforce development, AI integration, and innovative learning solutions. Winners will be announced on 14 January 2026 and featured in the first print magazine of the ETIH Innovation Awards, to be distributed at BETT 2026.
The University of Cambridge's Your Future Story initiative and the upcoming ETIH Innovation Awards 2026 both promise significant impacts on education. While the former seeks to raise aspirations and provide opportunities for students in South West England, the latter aims to recognize and promote innovative learning solutions globally. These efforts highlight the commitment of various stakeholders to improving education and fostering innovation.
