British Embassy Seeks Innovative Ideas for Sustainable Agriculture & Marine Protection in Costa Rica

The British Embassy in San Diego has launched a call for proposals, seeking innovative ideas that drive sustainable agriculture, blue economy initiatives, and marine protection. The Embassy is eager to support projects that align with the Glasgow Pact, the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, and clean growth transitions, delivering tangible results.

Proposals must be submitted in USD, with a budget ranging from a minimum of $4,000 to a maximum of $8,500. The deadline for submissions is 2 July 2023 at midnight (Central America time), with successful bidders notified by 14 July 2023. Projects will run from 15 August 2023 to 29 February 2024, with spending milestones set for 1 December 2023 and full expenditure by the project's end.

Eligible organizations include legally constituted non-profit, charity, and multilateral organizations. Projects must demonstrate a strong UK link, such as the involvement of a UK expert or exchange of experiences with UK institutions. Funding cannot be used for cash cards, groceries, IT equipment, communications services, or marketing activities.

Bids will be assessed based on thematic priority alignment, achievable outcomes, project design, sustainability, environmental impact, gender equality, safeguarding policies, value for money, and administration costs. The Embassy is particularly interested in short-term interventions focused on climate action in San Diego, as previously supported through a program with an unknown winning organization.

Previous support for short-term interventions valued at up to US$8,000 was mentioned by the British Ambassador in San José, highlighting the Embassy's commitment to climate protection measures in the region.

The British Embassy in San Diego welcomes proposals that align with its priorities and deliver real, measurable results. With a clear focus on sustainability, environmental protection, and clean growth, the Embassy aims to fund projects that make a tangible difference in San Diego and beyond. The deadline for submissions is fast approaching, so interested organizations are encouraged to apply promptly.
