Bremen Chamber of Commerce's Schütting Foundation awards funding to 33 projects
In a significant move to support education and career orientation in Bremen and Bremerhaven, the Schütte Foundation, a charitable organisation affiliated with the Bremen Chamber of Commerce, has announced funding decisions for 33 projects.
On November 26th, 2022, the foundation announced that it would be providing over 226,000 euros in funding to these projects, which aim to support young people who will be urgently needed in all societal and economic areas of Bremen and Bremerhaven in the future.
One of the projects receiving funding is Sebaldsbrueck Oberschule's "Mobile Market Stall for Outdoor School," a project designed to promote outdoor learning and strengthen integration. Another project, "MakerSpace" at Borchshoehe Oberschule e.V., will provide students with a creative space to design and build their own projects.
The Wilhelm-Wagenfeld-School Bremen's "Recycling - The WG Duel" project aims to teach students about the importance of recycling and sustainable living, while Vegesack Gymnasium's "School as a State - The Vegestaat / Project Days for Democracy Promotion" aims to promote political literacy and engagement among students.
The Schütte Foundation's funding is also intended to strengthen integration and drive innovation transfer between science and business. Projects such as "Global Teaching Labs - International Chemistry Workshop for Bremen Students" by Constructor University Bremen gGmbH and "Forge Projects" by ERNST! School at Ernst-Reuter-Platz are examples of this focus.
In addition to these projects, the Schütte Foundation has also provided funding for career orientation initiatives, such as the "BO (Career Orientation) Database" by SCHULEWIRTSCHAFT Bremen - The Association of Companies in Bremen e.V. and the "Interactive job4u Matrix for Individual Matching Practice Between Students and Companies" by job4u e.V.
The funded projects also include initiatives to support students with special needs, such as "School Support for a Highly Gifted Child (First Grader)" at Schoenebeck School and "Sensors for School Experiments in Science Classes" at Ronzelenstraße Oberschule.
Antje Grotheer, President of the Bremen Parliament, and Eduard Dubbers-Albrecht, Handelskammer President, presented the funding certificates to the responsible parties of the 33 funded projects. Dr. Matthias Fonger, CEO of the Chamber of Commerce, emphasized the need for qualified and committed specialists in the state of Bremen.
According to Eduard Dubbers-Albrecht, the Schütte Foundation is based on the centuries-old tradition of Bremen and Bremerhaven merchants serving the well-being of the federal state. The foundation's funding decisions for the years 2023 and 2024 have not yet been announced, but it is expected that the foundation will continue to support education and career orientation in Bremen and Bremerhaven.
